Saudi Crown Prince Reaffirms Support for UAE, Condemns Iranian Attacks

(MENAFN) Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has voiced strong support for the United Arab Emirates and condemned recent missile and drone attacks attributed to Iran, according to reports.

In a phone call on Monday with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince expressed what was described as Saudi Arabia’s firm rejection of the strikes. The Saudi Press Agency reported that he conveyed the kingdom’s “strong condemnation and denunciation of the unjustified Iranian attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates.”

He also reaffirmed Riyadh’s backing for the UAE in safeguarding its security and stability.

The remarks come after renewed Iranian missile and drone activity targeting the UAE, which marks the first such escalation since a ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States came into effect last month.

The UAE had earlier stated that it faced a fourth wave of incoming missiles and drones allegedly launched from Iran. According to Emirati authorities, air defense systems successfully intercepted 15 missiles and four drones.

In a related incident, a fire broke out at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone on the UAE’s eastern coast, an important energy facility, after it was struck by a drone reportedly launched from Iran.

The developments have added to regional tensions amid continued concerns over the stability of the ceasefire and security in the Gulf region.
