Netanyahu Summons Coalition Leaders Amid Reports of US-Iran Talks
The meeting was called on short notice—estimated to occur within an hour—and participants were not briefed on its agenda. Sources suggest the session is tied to the ongoing conflict and US attempts to negotiate with Tehran.
Earlier on Monday, Netanyahu said in a recorded statement that he had spoken with US President Donald Trump. He added that Trump believes there is an opportunity to reach an agreement with Iran to “protect our vital interests.”
Tensions in the region have intensified since US and Israeli forces launched a joint offensive on February 28, resulting in over 1,340 deaths, including the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In retaliation, Tehran has conducted drone and missile strikes against Israel and neighboring countries hosting US forces, including Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
